Retreat, Part 2

Oops. I quite forgot that I had also sewn this at Retreat... yes, another item in the
Festival of Fiddly Sewing!

This block measures 12½' square & will be made into a mini-quilt soon... so fiddly, but so pleased with the result... each little square is 2" !!
Upon reflection, I realise that this was rather an ambitious item to sew at Retreat, given the various distractions that can occur!

A couple of episodes of reverse sewing were needed, but it came together in the end & I love it!
This block was inspired by the Moda Love Blog Tour, which happened back in 2014... The idea is that the block can be made with either layer cakes, charm squares or mini-charms/candy squares. The pattern can be found HERE.
I just cut my own squares & hst for this particular block.

I was really hoping that Australia would be able to win back The Ashes at this Perth Test... but who'd have thought such wintry weather would prevent play today, the final day of the match!
NNnnnoooo!
For goodness sake, it's summer ... but it's also 21°c, blustery & rain showers... while I don't like the hotter temps, I sure as heck don't like wintry conditions in December either!

Loooove that block. I have hand pieced many 1" squares and half triangles in my Civil War quilts. I find hand piecing small pieces is easier than machine piecing for me. More accurate. Just have fun.

You've done a great job on your fiddly block. I bet you are happy with the final outcome of the cricket. Rather fitting to win back the Ashes on the last day of the last test to be played at the WACA. We are sweltering over here, but your weather is supposed to arrive on Thursday with temps dropping back to the low 20s, but only for a day or so, then up into the mid 30s again. Crazy.
