Teaching Myself Something New

I've had quite a fascination in recent months with hexagons...
I love to have a look at the hexy creations of other bloggers. I like to have a look at the Vignette Hexagon Quilt blog & always marvel at the pretty progress of those who are making that quilt. I'm intrigued by those who make hexy's with no particular plan in mind...

Slightly against my commitment to "make & finish what I already have" I recently purchased some 1" hexy papers, with the idea to see if I like it, & use some fabrics I've had for ages but can't remember what they were originally for! (The hexy's are helping me use the fabric I already had!)

So last night, having done all the preparations, I sat watching a few recorded  ep's of my beloved The Bold & The Beautiful, basting fabric to my hexy papers. Teaching myself something new & enjoying it!! The first ones I did were the blue ones - I really don't like the colour blue, so I was not going to be disappointed if they didn't go well. Well, yay for me, they turned out really great...

Now, I have no idea of what I am going to do with these, but I've decided to keep making them, as & when I feel like it... I really enjoyed trying something new & adding to the pleasure I find in fabrics.

sorry the pics are a little dark

I find hexies very relaxing, so many little finishes in a short time. I'm also finding it interesting seeing single fabric flowers a bit online recently, they have a touch of sophistication that the standard flowers don't have although they have their own charm.

And yours are lovely, gorgeous fabrics! (Which is what I came on to say before I got sidetracked musing. :D)
