My Little Holiday

I have returned home yesterday from a lovely few days away with my family in Margaret River, WA...
Amazing karri tree forests... beautiful wineries & rolling hills... amazing coastline... great food & sights...
A wonderful time... despite very cold weather.
We travelled in MrHS brand new work car, very comfy, even has seat warmers!

Of course, I went well-equipped with some hand-stitching...

Two more flowers for the Quilt of Forgotten Fabrics, & two just because

This stitchery is from a great blog called The Painted Quilt. Kaaren shares a great new design each month, aptly called First Friday Freebie Free Patterns. There are some wonderful designs for us to enjoy, thanks Kaaren for sharing your designing talents so freely with us. And thanks too to Kate, who inspired me to stitch it...

Now this lovely girl, I must confess I found her simply by going into Google Images & typing "redwork". I'm not sure what to do with her yet, but she was lovely to stitch.

It was lovely to sit by the toasty warm fire in the evenings in our little cottage accommodation, & do a bit of stitching! And I HAD to sit near the fire or else my fingers would have snapped off from the cold...!

These stitcheries are somewhat of an experiment for me, trying out some different fusible backings for fabrics, see which one/s I like... for a big project I will be starting soon... well, it's a big one for me, stay tuned...

I clearly have some catching up to do, on the blogs I follow & love to read. I've missed some wonderful goings-on...

I have always loved redwork too and your stitchery looks great. You could frame the girl or just make her into a lovely cushion too. I love those hexies too.

Yes, Anthea, glad you were able to get away and doubly so that you had some time for some hand stitching. The pins and needles stitchery is lovely but the lady is DIVINE! And the flowers for the quilt of forgotten fabrics are pretty too. I have been agonizing over the rainbow for my Oz hanging and missed OFW this week......arggggghhhh
