Friday Night Sew-In for September

This FNSI saw me re-visit a cross stitch that I started work on, but put aside about a year ago.
Cross stitch was the only type of hand stitching I did for nearly 20 years, however I must admit to being attracted in more recent times to the more rapid results of the 'backstitch' type of stitchery.

After a few delays(including distraction due to Sydney beating Collingwood!), I finally got myself set up... correct footwear & all...

... and I can't believe that I sat for a full 8 minutes, trying to remember what to do!
But then my brain kicked in & off I went... slowly... as you do with cross stitch....

This is the design and what I've done on it so far...

... and this shell went from this...

 ... to this...

So not a heap of progress, however I am happy to have started working on this again, & plan to work on it one evening each week until it's finished. So that was my FNSI!

For those of you FNSI visitors who would have seem me working on the Christmas Treasures Wreath, I have finished the stitching, and HERE IT IS

As usual, there is a linky HERE for everyone to go see what other FNSI'ers got up to.

Cross stitch was all I did for years too. And I still do a bit every now and again. Your project is really lovely, thanks for sharing.

I think we all have an unfinished cross stitch in the cupboard. I like your plan to get yours finished, maybe I should do the same thing.

This post brought home so many memories of when I crossed stitched many, many years ago like you I find backstitch a quicker stitch to work with. Your cross stitch is looking lovely :) Barb.

Like your cross stitch. I have several in my cupboard. It makes we want to get one out and start on it. A few quilting stitcheries to do first though. Hugs....

Love your cross stitch. The design and colours are gorgeous. I'm new to cross stitching and can only look in wonder at the time it must take to complete a design like this one. Wow!

i've never done much in the way of cs but i always admire the work that goes into reading the charts and selecting the right shades. it is very time consuming stitching.

I used to cross stitch, but the older I've gotten, the less I have the time (or patience) for it. I LOVE your redwork wreath, but I think I've mentioned that before. It's so gorgeous, I might just have to make one myself. That'll probably never happen, but I can dream about having time for it. ;) Great FNSI!

I had the same distraction, I went to check the score and went back to the sewing area after the final siren...Go Swans!
