The Man-Quilting Is Done...

I've been like a woman possessed... and happily report that the Pfaff has stood up to its toughest workout yet... the quilting for the Man Quilt is DONE!!
And speaking of workout, whoh my poor arms need a break... this quilt is the size of a single bed doona, oh why didn't I start with something smaller?!
It's heavy too... the fabric is called 'ticking' & is generally used as a furnishing fabric, each of the fibres is think but the fabric itself is very soft.
I stitched 1/8th inch either side of each seam, and then did a simple cross through each square.
Let's just say, it's definitely got the 'home made' look... but for a first-timer, I think I've done more than ok.
Mr12 is very pleased to see it coming along, & watches me with great interest.
Hey Peg, do you recognise the chook?! I named her PegChook!
PegChook presides over all the goings on with her usual great authority, and general sticky-beak-ness. But she didn't so much as offer me a cuppa while I worked so hard!
The Four-Legged Site Manager has been lax in his duties, sleeping on the sofa from one end of the day to the other, no doubt just waiting for the Man Quilt to be ready for him to recline on...
So next step.... 20hundred miles of binding...

Well done Anthea. Beginner or not, it is a good looking quilt, and your son will love it because his Mum made it.

Great quilt, Anthea. You are so fortunate to have access to such a variety of ticking.

Love your Man Quilt and hope your man does too. Congratulations on your first quilt - ticking is such a lovely fabric - as you say, tough but soft. I think you have done a great job!

LOL.....I can sooooo relate Anthea....I'm quilting one now too and my shoulders are KILLING ME!!!!! must learn to drop them every couple of stitches....they keep creeping up and tightening!!!! The quilt looks great though....very impressed, but not so with Pegchook not making you a cuppa nor the 4 legged site manager for sleeping all the way through the construction!!!!! LOL
