My Quilt-Basting Saviour...

That's right, it's a swimming kickboard... I used my son's old board to kneel on, whilst basting my QOFF layers together on Sunday... brilliant! Nice bit of cushioning for my knees.
Even though my back was still groaning from the pinning, I couldn't resist making a start on the quilting straight away... it's hard work, but coming along nicely... just doing a bit here & there...

...progress pic...

We are having some very wild, wintery weather here today... "Oh Spring, Where Art Thou?"... forecast to get worse before it gets better... great for staying in and doing some Secret Sewing...

What a fantastic idea. I have a gardening knee mat which I never thought of using for inside basting a quilt. Your quilt looks beautiful.

I use a hot water bottle with a little water in it...still hate basting though!

Anthea! The QOFF is fabulous! I love the way you used the "orphan" petals in the middle........and glad you found a solution to the pinning dilemma.........I usually go to my sister's house when I have a huge pinning project.....she took her old dining room table and put it in her sewing room! What a "lifesaver" that is. Can't wait to see the QOFF finish!

Your quilting looks perfect Anthea - is it machine, I can't quite see? I must admit I have given up basting on the floor and manage on my dining room table - covered with plastic cloth it is perfect! It is looking lovely. I have been resisting the urge to do some hexagons but have finally given in!!

A very nice way to quilt your hexie flowers and I like the single hexagon between the blocks too. I have a gardening knee mat I have never used, I will try it next time I baste a large quilt.

Brilliant! Love the quilting around the hexies too... looks great!

That's a great idea Anthea, my knees kill me when kneeling on the tiles. The quilting is looking great Anthea. xx

It is coming along great. My mum has a couple of cheap tressel tables that she sets up with a board in between when needed. Much better than grovelling on the ground. My dad said I should get some of those knee pads for gardening to use but I haven't yet as there hasn't been a quilt big enough for me to baste on the floor in quite some time.
