FNSI... Doing Some Fun Christmas Stitching...

Last night was the last Friday Night Sew In for 2016... Thank you Wendy at Sugarlane Designs for hosting us each month throughout the year for this great little party.

'The Birdhouse' Christmas designs have a happy character about them... this one is called 'Santa's Workshop'... I confess I'm fine with being a lazy stitcher sometimes... gotta love a pre-printed piece that uses only one colour of thread!
Last night I stitched Santa up the top there... I just do a little stitching each night.
Go check out the other ladies work from FNSI, by clicking here.

This time of year is so busy...
I want to encourage everyone to remember that retail & hospitality workers have families & plans too... Please take a small moment to really look at your checkout operator, store staffer, barista or table staff & wish them a 'Merry Christmas'... Thank them for their service...
Why am I saying this, especially to people I know are probably doing that anyway??
Both of my daughters work in customer service based industry... one in a large supermarket & the other in a busy cafe...
The pre-&-post Christmas seasons seems to bring out the 'ugly' in shoppers who otherwise are probably nice people. Rude, smart-mouthed, condescending, pushy, impatient customers abound...
hopefully they don't speak to their own family members the way they speak to a store employee.
Interestingly, (& contrary to widely-held beliefs) my daughters report that it's the teenagers & young adults who have the best attitudes & manners... not they don't get some lovely customers outside that group!
To put it plainly, it's no wonder that so many staffers seem unhappy at this time of year... they get treated like sh1t by so many shoppers. We've all seen it.
Spread your Christmas cheer everywhere you go... I can tell you it makes a difference in someone's day to be spoken to with heart & respect.

Speaking of my daughters, there's something special happening for my DDC... she's off to Europe for 4 weeks, leaving on the 27th!
This is the first time she's travelled anywhere. She's going with a wonderful friend she met when they were both 12 & just starting high school... amazing to think they are now 22 & off travelling together.
Oh how the wings spread!

Finally got around to writing my letter to Santa, hope he gets it in time...

So true Anthea - it takes only a moment to say thank you & Merry Christmas etc.

I love anything pre printed or iron on transfer...and one thread colour does mean smooth sailing - in sewing terms. I have one of those Natalie Christmas packs lying around ..some where...maybe I will find it over Christmas.

Lovely happy stitching there. I understand what you say completely. My youngest daughter has to deal with the rudest people on the telephone each day and even had to work this morning . She said Christmas brings out the worst people and I tend to agree with her. I live in a tourist area and a lot of the tourists always seem to be in such a hurry even though they are on holidays. I have had people tell me that they don't need to obey any road rules, take care in carparks or keep the noise down after midnight because they are on holidays!!!!

How wonderful for your daughter travelling O/S. It is good if they can go while they are young.

So true Anthea - season of good cheer and bad manners, such a shame. Lovely little Birdhouse stitchery, I agree, it is so nice sometimes just to stitch without having to think too much. I hope your daughter has a great trip. xx

Such a happy stitchery, Anthea. It must be fun stitching this one.
I've never been able to understand why customers have to be so unpleasant when they get rushed - a smile can be contagious. Sadly, the unconscious can not be enlightened.

The stitcheries are lovely - yes, it's nice to sit down with one that's already printed and requires no thinking re thread colour choice!! It's a shame the lead up to Christmas has to be marred by grumpiness - it's all supposed to be about spreading love and good cheer, huh? I hope your daughter has an awesome OE!!

Your stitching is fantastic! I love the design. I do hope your daughters survived the holidays. (I was quite impressed when I had to get out in the crowds with how genuinely nice people behaved even though the lines made it halfway back the store.) I also hope your daughter enjoys her travels! How fun!
