I just love public holiday Mondays... today is the third day of my weekend!
While I've not been highly productive this weekend, it's been great to get a couple of small things done.
This huge octopus of strips, which I cut last week, has now become the binding for my Sow's Ear Quilt... I'm hoping it will be back from the quilter soon, as my Reveal deadline is getting closer.
DD-Y needed a new pencil case for the uni year, so I put one together for her... yes it's HER choice
of fabric🙂 The lining is a purple like you see on the outside.
Thanks to Florence at 'Flossie Teacakes' & her great tutorial, I now have one very pleased daughter♥
The zipper technique was new to me, but Florence explains it well & there is heaps of great pics.
Yesterday whilst scrolling through my IG feed, I noticed that a business I follow was in my area, as a vendor at a quilters group gathering... I spied some wool felt in one of her pics & was able to find out that she was still there... so I jumped at my chance to get some felt.
Tanya is the owner of Cotton Rose, a beautiful shop about 90 minutes south of me... it was lovely to meet her & put a face to the IG loveliness she posts @cotton_rose1.
I really only use wool felt for putting in needle books, but don't like to order it online... I like to see the colours first, before I make my choice.
Do you use wool felt in your crafting??
I hope you have a great Monday... well, as good as Mondays can get!

That is such fun pouch! Love it.
Gee you are so clever making that pencil case. Yes, I have appliqued using wool felt. There are so many on the market and the softer ones are great to stitch with.
what a happy coincidence to discover the wool felt BEFORE ti was too late!! I agree you want to see and feel before you buy if you can. I've used wool felt a little bit...its lovely.
Groovy pencil case.
Love the pencil case! Always to get something done on the weekend, love your octopus colour!! Have not done much with wool, but maybe one day!!
Hi Anthea - can't wait to see your Sows Ear! The pencil case is great thanks for the link to the tutorial. When I got my new computer at the beginning of the year I lost all my tutorial bookmarks so need to build up a stock again. I only use wool felt for needlebooks although I do have a large stash from way way back. Well you never know when it might come in handy again. xx
Such a great pencil case. I sometimes draw back from this kind of pouches when a zipper is involved although I have already made some with zippers. I'll have to go to the link you provide.
Cute fabric for the case... how lucky getting that wool... nice shopping
Love the pencil case. Can't wait for your big reveal. The wool felt looks lovely. Hugs,xx

Oh yes, alwasy nice to have an extra day to the weekend. The pencil pouch looks great - I'll have to look up the tutorial and discover a new way of doing zips, thank you :-) I'm also looking forward to seeing your Sow's Ear Quilt - so close to finishing and your reveal!
I always find making binding rather satisfying...
