Finished... Happy Christmas Cushion

Happy Christmas Cushion, from The Birdhouse
I am so pleased with how this looks... I bought the fabrics a while back, & a few weeks after they arrived, I saw the pattern online... of course, I ordered the pattern immediately! It combines two of my favourite stitching loves - stitchery & hexagons...

I stitched a zip through the middle of the back instead of the suggested fold-over. Being that the cushion is rectangular, I had to make my own insert, amazingly it is lump-free! Some very fine interfacing has been pressed behind the hexagon panels to give extra strength to the hand-stitched seams between the hexagons.
A few comments have remarked on the fabrics, they are Nancy Halvorsen fabrics. Being that I have missed it for January, I am nice & early for my "1 Xmas Item A Month" for February;)
Thank You to Natalie Bird for such a fun design that I will be making again for sure...

I did enjoy watching the Men's Final of the Australian Open, just a bit disappointed that Andy Murray was not at full strength, that would have made for a more competitive match ... Well that's how the game rolls, & Novak is a great player. Sadly the end of the Australian Open signals that school is about to start again, but there are some days left to have with mr12 before he heads off into the big world of Secondary. He is my last one, & this is the first year I have ever had only 1 child at school, being that his older siblings are twins. I confess it does all feel a bit 'grown up', to him & me both, in our own ways... but I know he will be fine.

Let us continue to send support, love and practical aid where possible, to our fellow Aussies who are currently experiencing the extremes of fires or floods.

Love your cushion! Thanks for your thoughts for us on the east coast - we got off relatively easily - but no power on a public holiday sure did put a hole in my sewing plans - but at least I still have a hosue to sew in.
Hurray for the end of the tennis - TV can get back to normal.
