I Made A... Q U I L T !

Yes friends, you read right, this non quilt maker made a quilt!
And... I love it to bits!!

Disappearing Nine-Patch Lap Quilt, purchased as a kit earlier in the year from Patchworks Plus, Tasmania.
I found it to be a great learning project in trying to get my seams & joins super-accurate.
 Measures 48inches square

Many of you will be familiar with the fabrics; it's Vintage Modern... charm squares & some extra. I had long admired this range, but never had an idea of what I would make.
Site Manager always on hand to perform quality & comfort testing!
I sent it back to Patchworks Plus for Sarah to work her quilting magic on it... don't you love the bubbles?!
Thank you so much Sarah, the quilting is just perfect x
I think these are my best ever binding corners. The grey fabric with red flowers is the backing.
Love It. Love It. Love It.

This one is a few firsts for me... first kit quilt... first time of getting something professionally quilted... first time of using a whole range of fabrics instead of just a few... first time sewing a project using mostly pre-cut fabric...
I wanted to challenge myself to a few things, & I learned a lot.

Being that this is actually the 3rd quilt I've made (the others are here & here) perhaps I can call myself a 'maker of simple quilts'... yes? Maybe 'non quilt maker' is not quite accurate any more?

Especially because I am already planning my next one!!

Just a little 'ps' to welcome my new readers & say thanks for visiting Hibiscus Stitches x

I think you can call yourself a maker of beautiful quilts too! I love it & Vintage Modern is a divine range. Your corners are awe inspiring. I'm having a bit of a corner crisis at the moment, don't know what I am doing differently but they are being a challenge. Four more to try & manage on a table runner tonight, wish me luck! Are we meeting up with Maria before Christmas, was it the 14th she mentioned? xx
