I'm excited...can you see my Happy Grin?! I'll get to the 'why' shortly...
Thank You to our gorgeous Hostess Cheryll for yet another very enjoyable Friday Night With Friends. The lists of ladies who joined in can be found here - do go blog-hopping, there is so much wonderful creating going on!
Our Friday evenings are now mostly consumed with being at soccer for mr14, so I do my sewing during the day... I had some time at home in the afternoon, so was able to get some great progress made on the backing for my greens & purples Birthday FQ's Quilt... it's almost done now...! I won't bore you with pics, but will share the finished backing when it's done...
Now to my morning... that's the reason for the Happy Grin...
Let me set the scene here... my friends don't sew, or stitch, or even ask me anything about it... as much as I totally love my sewing & stitching (& those friends!), it does often feel like a lonely pursuit... so I thank goodness that I took the plunge & got into the online community a few years ago.
But there is something to be said about being able to share all of this face-to-face with ladies who have similar interests, isn't there?
Last weekend while I was in the shop looking for border fabrics for my quilt, I got chatting to two ladies who each told me about the groups they belong to for their patchwork & quilting...
Really?! What were the odds?! TWO people in the same place at the same time, telling me about their groups! Music to my ears, I tell you!!
So yesterday I took myself along to Pinjarra Patchwork & Quilters... & met up again with one of the ladies Sue... who introduced me to the ladies there... I confess to feeling a little nervous, but the ladies quelled that quickly with their very warm welcome, friendly conversation & many laughs.
The group uses what was a school building (many many moons ago)... beautiful location & so very well set up for their purposes...
What a very enjoyable couple of hours I had there... I did get a few stitches done... but mostly just sat & basked in the joy of being with other people of similar interests!
I'm really hoping that yesterday was the beginning of me finding a place to make new friends & share my interests with like-minded ladies... so guess where you'll find me next Friday?!
Thanks for hosting FNWF Cheryll... I'm happy to say that indeed I was sewing with friends!

That is great news. Enjoy! xx debbie
I'm so happy for you! I belong to a Guild and a quilt club, but they're more about meetings with Show 'n Tell than sewing together. Here's to making new friends.
I met the Pinjarra ladies when I was down that way in February. They were so lovely and the building and rooms in there are a visual feast for quilt lovers.
I left feeling like I wanted to move down there just to spend sewing days with them. It was a great experience.
That is wonderful, Anthea. I hope you have many happy hours with your new friends. Quilting can be such a social activity and best shared with others, online or in person :-)
Wonderful to hear you've fond some friends you can stitch with close to you, enjoy! :) Barb.
I know exactly what you mean Anthea, I have the same dilemma with my non-quilty friends although I do belong to two quilting groups and enjoy their company on 2 days of the week. I do so love my online group of similar minded friends as well.
