I'm wondering if any of my readers know anything about printing photos onto fabric... or perhaps have actually done it?
I'd love to hear from anyone who has any tips or information that could be helpful.
I've looked around online, & see there are packs of printable 100% cotton fabric, that require an inkjet printer... anyone used them? what sort of results?
I'm thinking about using this method as part of my contribution to a project that's been proposed by my Patchwork group. To be honest, I feel way out of my depth with it at the moment, but I'm going to try my best with ideas... it's quite intimidating, especially when most of the other ladies are just so darn brimming with ideas, & possess so much skill!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can share info, tips or advice...

I've used both Printed Treasures and I think Judy Tailor brands for printing . I was so disappointed with the PT brand because it fades drastically and you can't even was if you need to. I have a mini wall hanging that's rolled up never to be displayed because of the fading. It fades just from hanging due to the lighting. The other brand I don't even date try to make a quilt out if so I use them as labels.
Hi Anthea. You can print straight onto fabric (smooth cotton or evolon are good) using an inkjet printer.Cut a piece of freezer paper to size - A4 - iron to the back of your fabric and trim VERY carefully. Load into the paper tray - mine is fabric side down and print. The colours will be muted and there are things that you can paint onto the fabric first to give a better colour repro but that is worth trying for starters. xx
Hi Anthea, I also have found that the photos faded. The original colours were a bit muted but I wasn't sure if this was because I was using older photos. I have some sheets left over if you would like them just let me know. Best of luck.
Anthea I have made a few Memory Quilts for 21st using a product called Bubble Jet. It is a fiddly process but no different than washing your fabrics and cutting them to make blocks. The photo's can be a little muted and especially if you are using older photo's... The finished project is awesome though. I think I have a few on my blog in ''finished quilts'' I do have some others that I haven't as of yet put in there. xxx
Hi Anthea
I use matilda own ink jet printable fabrics sheets, they are $21.95 for 5 sheets, A4 size, you put them into your printer, print out your photos and then peel the backing off the sheet, you are left with the fabric. I used them for dad's photo quilt and all the photos were printed out using my $65 printer. You don't need anything fancy.
I can't remember the brand if fabric I used but after printing I sprayed the fabric with waterproofing spray. This also minimised fade.
I can't help you about that… sorry !
Florence
Good luck... I've never done it ...
