sorry if I may have seemed a little distracted this time...
The Perth Scorchers (our home team) won the Final of the cricket Big Bash League & after that there was some great mens figure skating to watch from the Sochi Games.
(yes, we are a family of sporting tragics!)
it's a Travelling Pattern & as soon as I've finished, I will be asking for someone to be next to stitch it.
Thank you once again to Cheryll for being our wonderful & welcoming host for Friday Night With Friends... if you would like to see what the other ladies did for their evening, just go here for a list...
(the lemon slice was delicious Cheryll!)

During the week I had the chance to purchase the backing & binding for my Postage Stamp Quilt.
I am having it quilted by a local lady who has her business in a totally I-went-green-with-envy studio on her 5 acre family property.
She is very friendly & after she had shown me some of here recently completed quilting for other clients, I knew I was leaving my baby in very good hands.
As for her studio... I will just say that it contains Everything Everything that a stitcher, sewer or group could want... except a butler... it even has a little verandah & a toilet room in the corner... She has two big computer-connected quilting frames & hosts two different groups a week... I am sure my PS quilt will enjoy her holiday there but she better not fraternise with that blue quilt I saw lurking at the end of a table...
I will prepare for her return by making the kilometres of binding she'll needs.

Mr13 has had a good 1st week back at school, & enjoyed the boasting that he is now a full 2inches taller than his mother... my week was busy with work days & errands I could no longer delay... but there's always time for stitching, including finishing off a piece for a 'same birthdates' swap that I am doing with my bloggy friend Sunny who lives in the US & also posting my Initial Heart Swap package.
Tonight is shaping up to be a good one for a big session of blog-read-catch-up...
Oh my, I just realised this is rather a long newsy post, so if you have made it all the way to the end, THANKS!

The postage stamp quilt is very pretty. I've recently been doing some smaller cross stitch items too, after a very long break from it. I love to do it, but I think I get overwhelmed with the huge projects :) xx debbie
Oh No! No fraternizing with the Blue! How awful. I can't wait to see what you made for Sunny - hehe. And I really can't wait for the finished postage stamp quilt. Now I need to put one of those on my list too. Are your floral squares all different, or are they all from the same floral fabric? and how big is it?? Nosey, aren't I?
Love the backing fabric! Glad that everyone has had a good first week back and yes both my girls are now taller than me too lol.
Glad you liked the lemon twist... and I enjoyed your company as well. Great effort too ! :)
gorgeous binding for your postage stamp top, always exciting hetting it quilted.
Your cross stitch pattern is lovely too. very sweet. Great idea to have a travelling pattern.
You aren't alone having your children taller than you. By the same token I can brag that I am taller than my mum now too lol
Poor mum is shrinking with age.
Love how your postage stamp quilt looks, I'm sure your quilting lady will do a fantastic quilting job with it. MMmmm lemon slice was yummo :) Barb.
Loved your long newsy post xx
Lovely post Anthea.
Now I need to know who this lady with the envious quilting studio is?
Wouldn't it be heaven to have that much space / room to work in.
Julia ♥
Your cross stitch is very nice.
Love your cross stitch and your gorgeous quilt. Lots of lovely news
Was fun to stitch with you last night... That's a sweet stitchery .... Pretty backing for your quilt...
Hugz
A delightful post, Anthea.
Great post Anthea, lovely cross stitch and looking forward to seeing postage stamp quilted. x
I love your version of the cross stitch those rainbow colours are gorgeous. I do hope that your quilt enjoys her (sounds like perfect)holiday and that you don't end up with mini postage stamps.
perfect colour for the backing..love your cross stitch - I guess its a variegated thread?? I've always wondered how it would work - are you doing each cross as one bit? - as opposed to a whole row and then back again...(making sense?)
I just don't know how you do that x stitch at night, but it is looking gorgeous! Love the backing for the postage stamp quilt.
The cross stitch thread you are using is so pretty Anthea. Nelson often likes to remind me he is taller than me! Yes, I am officially the smallest in the house!
Lovely cross stitch. Your PS quilt looks like it is in good hands. Like the backing fabric. Hugs...
Love the backing you chose for your gorgeousl postage stamp quilt. Beautiful cross stitching, such pretty thread.
Love your cross stitch. Look forward to seeing the PS quilt quilted.
Great work for Friday night, I really enjoyed the cricket too, so good to see the Scorchers take it out. I'm kind of sad that I haven't got the BBL to sit up late and watch each night now! It was usually 1am here before it finished each night.... no wonder I'm feeling tired :-)
It's always fun to see someone elses work space/studio, sounds like your quilter has the perfect spot, your PS quilt will enjoy it's visit!
Love the crosstitch.....what kind of thread is that.....it's beautiful.....I wonder if they have it here.....I crosstitch and I have never seen it.....
