Now The Backing Is Done...

The backing was finished on Saturday, so my Birthday FQs Quilt is ready to go to the quilter! Yay!

This is my fifth quilt, but the first time I have pieced a backing... what an effort it was... wrangling this great big thing through Miss Pfaff... pressing it & trying to see if it was sitting flat after each addition of purple fabric... I confess I'm glad it's done now... I'll be going with a wideback next quilt!
Anyway here it is... in all its purple & green glory...
The contrast between the purple outer & the inner fabrics is not as stark as this pic suggests, it's just hard to get a good pic of something so big, & in cloudy weather.

Now I'm off to wash a dog bed or two for the Site Manager...
is anyone else having hilarious visions of a Papillon dog, hand washing his bedding in a laundry trough?!

LOL wouldn't that be nice if our pets could wash their own bedding....

Love it! you're very clever with piecing your backing with the fabric left over from the quilt front:) Barb.

If that's the back, I think you've just made a reversible quilt. Great job.

great finish!
I have visions of the site manager popping the washing in the machine and setting the cycle then sitting back and chilling. I don't think Papillon's should be expected to hand wash?

Nice backing. I always have the problem of lining up the backing straight. Yours looks lovely.

Well done on the fabulous backing! I must admit, that while I love the look of pieced backings, I find it much easier to go the wide backing way!!

I'm so impressed with your quilt back. It looks great and it's economical too. You just persuaded me to have a go at piecing one myself...gulp! :o))

Well done Anthea, it looks great. I also just checked your pics of the front & it is gorgeous. How did you go quilting it so the stitching lines matched up on the front and back?

Also glad to hear you have joined a local group. Hope your subsequent visits have been just as good as your first one. It is wonderful to share things FTF as well as online :).

Have a great week,
Tracy
