In the midst of the back pain roller-coaster last week, was my Birthday. Not ideal!
(I mean the timing of the pain was not ideal, being that I can't do much about the birthday!)
Anyway I did have as a good a day as my pain would allow, & at least got the night off from cooking by way of my girls making nachos for dinner... that said, I had made a cake earlier in the day... no one in our house misses out on a cake, even if you have to make your own.
The day was tinged with a little sadness... no sweet singing down the phone from my MIL in the morning & her treasured voice sending love... I know it's often said that the 'first of things' is hard, & yes that aspect of the day was.

One of my very first swap partners was Kaylee (Krafty Kaylee) & we've kept in touch since that time... for this year, we agreed to do a one-to-one Birthday Swap... so I had a lovely parcel of goodies to open on my special day. Thank you Kaylee for your gorgeous gifts... you already know I love it all!
A beautiful hussif, some Kate Spain fabrics & mini charm pack, calming tea, sweet-smelling soap & scented spray...
The hussif was inspired by Jenny of Elefanz... so handy with its various pockets, pincushion & needlekeeper. Now I have a few months to make Kaylee's gifts & send them off to her.
Maria also sent me wishes & a fabulous mini quilt... just love the words! It will be hung proudly on the wall of my new room. Maria knows I have already decided to name the room, but I'm not revealing that just yet. Check out the border fabrics - the green print is pins & I just love the various haby items on the blue fabric. It's the perfect wall hanging for a person who only a couple of years ago thought she'd never make a quilt!!
I also received mail from my gorgeous friend Leanne... one of her fab pouches (don't you love the fabric?!) and some yummy Kate Spain fabric pieces. Your parcel was a happy surprise Leanne & I really appreciate your thoughtfulness... thank you once again. xo

Speaking of the new room... oh delays, how you frustrate me... things have ground to a standstill at the time when work needs to be done to finish inside MY ROOM, wouldn't you know it?! (The workshop is virtually finished, ggrrr...) Not to worry, I have plenty to keep me occupied & it will get done soon enough.

Happy belated birthday!!! I got from Brisbane with Dad just in time for our eldest son's birthday (well to phone him at any rate). Looks like your addition is getting there ..... it won't be too long before you can show it off :) Site manager looks very happy to have his yard back too!
Happy Birthday, Anthea. What lovely gifts you received. I'm so sad that your back pain continues. I've experienced that and pray that you're rid of that pain soon.
The workshop and your room is looking great! I hope your back is feeling better (back's always take so long to mend...such an inconvenience when there is so much to do.). I love your goodies - particularly the pouch (the fabric is fabulous!).
Hi Anthea, today I did my first BLOG post in 2 months, eek... That will definitely improve the more I get to spend time in my craft room. So I am now reading a few blogs which I haven't done in the last couple of months either... I hope you are keeping well.. Hugs Kaylee
