Time To Get Moving On A Slow Project

July of 2017, I got started on a very pretty project using an old Melly & Me quilt pattern.

I'm not quite sure why it is that I've only worked on this during two Retreats, months apart... last week when I spied it in my WIPs, (or was it the PFAs? Projects Forgotten About) I decided it was time to just get down to business.
Eight blocks had already been made... sixteen are required... so I've spent a bit of time making more blocks... fun! I quite enjoy making them, despite the fact that they are a bit fiddly.
I love the simplicity of the two colours; they're so pretty.

I also love the various secondary patterns created with the block layout.

A 17th block is required... the very first one I made, all seams were pressed to one side, but then I realised that because of the way the blocks rotate to be sewn for the quilt centre, the seams would be bulky. All blocks were then sewn with seams pressed open... fiddly & time-consuming to do, but so worth it.
The Pressing Ninja in me is very satisfied...

As for that very 1st block, it will get used as part of a future project.

Part of my motivation to get this quilt finished is that I recently bought the most divine backing for it... seriously it's gorgeous... can't wait to use it!

It's lovely to just get in my sewing room, click on a DVD & get sewing♥

At least you are working on it now. I do love the blue and white. An orphan block can always be used.
