Time To Finish It... & Opinions Please

'Charmed I'm Sure' table runner by Leanne's House.
This poor thing has been shuffled from one spot to another in the Sewing Space... decided on Thursday it was time to just get on, make some progress & get it finished...
Don't look too closely at the joins... or the quilting... there's dodgy bits... & I still have to tuck in the threads.
Quilting all those triangles was a bit of work, but putting on some Queen made it feel a little less tedious!
I totally love these fabrics... Kate Spain is a definite favourite of mine...
What about the binding? I have options...
I prefer the top one... I think it would frame the runner nicely without being as 'bold' as the other fabric, yes? I'm terrible with choosing colours, but this feels right to me.
Any opinions? What do you think?
*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*
I returned to Pinjarra on Friday, & spent most of the school day there in the company of the Patchwork & Quilting ladies... took my opportunity to finish the second item of my Christmas In July swap gifts...
While I was there, I came to a surprising thought... I actually don't have a bag/tote/basket to take with me to my stitching days out! True!
While I do have a little bag to carry the essentials, I don't have a bigger one to put a project in & carry all my stuff together. It's never occurred to me to have one, because I've never taken my sewing anywhere.
Clearly I need to remedy that situation... dig out my mags, books & patterns... find a good one & MAKE IT QUICK SMART!
What do you use to carry your stuff to group? Do you have a suggestion for me? Any pattern or product you would recommend?
♥ Thanks for stopping in, have a great week ♥

Love the runner in those pretty fabrics. I have some Kate Spain fabrics but have been hoarding them. I love the pretty yellow floral print for the binding. I agree that it's not as bold as the pink print.

I like the top one too, Anthea. I'm sure whichever one you choose will look great.

Both are good, I am more the pink, but both are fine. I have various tote bags. My current favourite is a Kantha bag which is colourful & roomy, a great purchase!

I'll vote for the top one too.

Bags - there are so many patterns out there..I would make sure you have pockets inside and maybe one outside...make it roomy....not just width & height but make the base biggish too. Do you also need to be able to fit in lunch, water bottle??
Enjoy the search...

your Kate Spain quilt is so lovely and fresh.... I am a big believer in going with your first gut thought.... so stick with it...
I have a nice big tote style bag with lots of pockets I take with me....

Hmmm! Seams I am different from everyone but that's not usual for me... I would like the bottom fabric for your border......
I have a couple of baskets I take with me to patch and workshops. No tote. Find it easier to find things in a basket.
Have fun finding a pattern to make that will suit you Anthea.

I like the top fabric for the binding and yes you do need a bag for al those sewing essentials just make sure it's roomy inside with maybe a few pockets for your bits and bobs :) Barb.

PS... Love the table runner...

The yellow will blend while the pink will pop...so whatever YOU think the edge needs...go with it.
I take different tote/baskets to different places. I try to only take what's necessary too so that keeps the size to a minimum. When going for a weekend or retreat I saw a lady take her washing basket & it worked well for carrying heaps of necessities. So surf the net for the "carrier" that's perfect for YOU! :)

I like the pink, but hey, you go with your first choice, you must have loved it at first sight.
I always end up with a first choice.
Looks lovely and perfect to me.

such a beautiful finish Anthea!!
It's really gorgeous.
Have fun chosing the binding.
I usually try a small overlap that will reflect the actual binding so it gives you a better perspective of how the binding will look.
enjoy

I think you're on the right track with the top binding, nice and subtle. As for bags......make lots of them!

For your binding, you really need to go with your instincts and use what makes your heart sing:-) Such a pretty quilt. I have a nice variety of bags to take to sewing, including a very pretty one I got for Christmas (xx) - make sure what you make will fit the container you keep your projects in, eg if you have a certain sized box or tin.... once you've made one, you'll want to make more!

OH Anthea...it's gorgeous! I remember you saying only a year ago how you'd not quilted a 'quilt' before.....looks like you're a seasoned pro now! I agree with most...gut instincts and mine matches yours...the top one looks best (in my humble opinion!) Can't wait to see it finished.
I'm with you...I don't have a 'craft' bag...I just use a carrybag I picked up at an art gallery - very funky...I must remedy that too....it IS on my list of must do's....one day! :/
xox sugary hugs :o)

I have to say that the top fabric is the first one I thought of . It is nice and bright and will nicely frame the quilt. The bag I take to my groups stitching days is one that is a Leanne Beasley design which was made for me in a swap from a lovely lady in NZ. I cherish it and think of her every time I pick it up.

I dont think I am much help as I like the look of both, so I agree that you should go with your instinct. I have a number of bags that I use to take my bits and pieces in. Which one I choose to take on the day depends on the amount of gear I have to pack in, as I have different sized bags. Pockets are definitely an advantage.

I love the top yellow print too. Looking forward to seeing it finished. When I sew I cart my project around in a fabric lined cane basket as it is usually stitching in the car or at my mothers house. Knitting or crochet has a special knitting bag I made from crazy patchwork and some old buttons and laces belonging to an elderly aunt of hubby's who passed away so it has special meaning to me. There are so many options around for project totes etc now. Have fun making a few different ones.
