Maria (r) & Sandra (c) are part of a quilters group that visit my Patchwork group HQ a couple of times a year, & today was one of those times.
Great to see you both!
And thanks for letting me crash your day out.

Might be time for a new iron... while I was out for those couple of hours with the ladies, back home one of my DDs has attempted to iron a pretty (synthetic) top... the result was not good:(
.
Does anyone know how to clean melted/burnt synthetic fabric off an iron?!

Looks like a wonderful day!!! Hello Ladies! Id just buy myself a new iron lol
such fun to catch up with M and S..... I have heard about that same iron cleaner but didn't have much luck with it myself... I think vinegar and bicarb might be worth trying?

Great catch up... looks like a new iron is needed, can't risk ruining your fabrics xxx
Its lovely meeting up with sewing friends.
Always wonderful to catch up with special blogging friends Anthea
Put iron onto lowest heat setting & burnt fabric should soften - remove/scrape with wooden spatula. Use equal parts of baking soda & water by dipping cloth in solution and wiping. Also recommended for burnt polyester is the use of acetone nail polish remover.
once done - a sheet of plain paper with a bit of table salt - run the iron over it a few times to remove leftover sticky residue. Once the iron cools wipe with a damp cloth.
Let me know how you go :)
What a great catch up with blogging friends. Good luck with your iron.
Sounds like Sharmayne may have the answer - I would have suggested a high temperature and put some old fabric over the edge of the ironing board and drag the iron over the edge...that is what I do if I get fusible applique stuff on my iron.
Good luck with it in any case
Lovely to catch up with Maria.
